Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500XL Rear Airbags on a 2024 Ram 3500. 3500 Rams can tow quite a bit of weight. The issue is when you put a lot of weight, the truck starts to sag and that causes a decent amount of issues as far as steering, braking, your headlights not being level and overall it puts a lot of stress on your suspension because as your shocks start to compress, they're gonna lose the ability to really be able to cushion and move because they're gonna be maxed out or close to it. And the reason being is because these trucks still kinda keep comfort in mind. So your factory jounce bumpers look something like this and these mount up where our airbags are and the issue is, is for it to compress, it takes a long, big gap for this to hit the bottom. So in the meantime, that suspension's gonna be crushing down and it's gonna translate, you know, again, all that not as much steering feel, braking, any of that up front and that's where airbags come into play. more

Air helper springs are going to be a suspension enhancement item that are designed to mount between the top of your leaf pack and then the side of your frame. Typically they'll mount under the frame. This one's a bracket will bolt to the side of the frame and use that to push up against. There's a couple of different options for the Ram 3500 cabin chassis. more

Before we do that though, let's take a minute, check 'em out and make sure they're gonna be right for you. So what we'll do is give ya a real life example on how these springs can help eliminate sag, and the truck squatting down in the back, so, right now we're backed up to a camper, don't have any weight on it or anything, but we're ready to go more or less. Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2022 Ram 2500, and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Air Helper Springs. These air springs are gonna mount between the frame of your vehicle and the axle, and what they're designed to do is they're designed to take some of the load so that not all of the load, whether it's in your bed or on your hitch, is going to be on your vehicle suspension. They're gonna give you a much more comfortable ride and help you to level that load. A lot of times, what's happening with these heavier-duty trucks is the suspension is a little bit softer from the manufacturer's, so that the truck is more comfortable when you're driving around every day. Well, that doesn't really help you when it comes to towing a trailer, or in the case of this truck, they're towing a big fifth wheel trailer that weighs 18,000 pounds when loaded down fully. more

Now, when it comes to rear enhancement suspension systems, you're gonna have a couple of different options. First off, it's gonna be your least aggressive option, which will be like a set of Sumo Springs. They're essentially going to be a softer foam like Timbren or a jounce-style bumper. Next up is going to be your Timbrens, which is a more aggressive version of a jounce bumper made out of a harder rubber, designed to support heavier loads. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing these SumoSprings front coil spring helper for the front axle on a 2019 Ram ProMaster 3500. Now the ProMaster 3500s ,you see a lot of times as work vans or delivery vans but you can see here we have it in the Van Life configuration. And so either way you're gonna have weight associated with it and that really means that this already fairly tall vehicle just feels a little bit more top heavy. And as far as steering, it's kind of numb from the factory and adding weight's just gonna make it that much worse. So adding these is not only going to just fill the void in the spring and really help supplement it it's gonna just give you that better overall handling and just better steering fuel throughout, not only just parking lots but out on the highway. And that's kind of a great thing to have and especially in something like this it's kind of a big sail out on the highway. more

So why airbags Well, today's trucks can handle a lot of weight. And you can do a lot with them even though this is a half ton pickup, they get the job done you usually have a lot of power and they're great for hauling boats, trailers, loads in the back, everything else, and they are coil spring in the back, which means they're gonna squat a little bit. If you do this often or if you have different items like a boat that weighs a certain amount or a camper that weighs a different amount these bags are adjustable and what they're gonna do is they're gonna bring your stock ride height back to level. more

Today's trucks have definitely gotten more comfortable as far as riding in them. And the Dodge suspension is very interesting in the fact that there's no leaf springs, and a lot of trucks are slowly going towards that. And it still has a lot of payload, and you can load this bed up, and really use it as a truck still. But sometimes, that suspension kind of gets to the point where it's doing the best it can, it's just kind of maxed out. more

So what are Timbrens and why do we need them Well Timbrens themselves are gonna be replacement for your factory jounce spring. They're gonna be in a replacement upgrade therefore, we're gonna do more to reduce sag and squat when we're towing those heavy loads. So if you guys tow frequently with your trailer or you just simply haul a lot in your truck bed you're probably gonna quickly realize that the factory suspension isn't really the best for this. Especially with the coil springs in the rear of this truck here. They ride great out on the highway but when you need to load 'em up they can really start to suffer from sag and squat which causes a whole bunch of other issues with the vehicle. more

Truck suspension is generally set up to handle pretty heavy loads, whether you be towing or having payload in the bed. Now, sometimes that suspension squats down, and that's gonna cause some really not favorable conditions when driving, which can mean either bad steering or a lack of steering feel, reduced braking, and overall wear on the suspension components of the vehicle. And partly, that's because the vehicle squats down, the front picks up, and you do lose that traction on the front, and it's just overworking the suspension generally on the rear. more

Hi there Ram owners, today in your 2011 Ram 1500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 Airbags. This is what our airbags look like when they're installed. They install between the axle and the frame of the vehicle, and they have internal jounce bumpers inside them, since we do remove the factory jounce bumper. Also don't we just remove the factory jounce bumper, but the entire jounce bumper mounting. It's nice that these have that internal jounce bumper for when we're running in conditions maybe where we're unloaded and or we just have a minor load and we've got just a little bit of air in the bags. In the event that we do bottom out, we have that bumper in there to ensure that we don't have any contact and causing damage to our suspension components.These bags are going to allow you to inflate each side independently as well. more

So the main purpose of our Timbren Springs are they're going to reduce the amount of sag or squat we have while we're towing or hauling a heavy load.The reason that's important is a lot of people don't actually realize some of the effects that our suspension has when we're squatting down. So without the Timbren's, our truck here depending on the amount of load we have is going to be squatting a couple inches and that couple inches, believe it or not, is going to have some drastic effects on our truck and towing.So what most people notice is that the truck's squatting and it just looks stupid. It looks kind of dumb having the rear end of your truck all the way down with the front end of your truck pointing up. But aside from that, there's actually a lot more going on behind the scenes most people aren't aware of.Number one, we're going to be wearing out our factory suspension much sooner than we would normally driving without a load. more

Hi there Ram owners today in your 2016 Ram, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Timbren suspension enhancement system. Before we begin our installation, we're going to take some baseline measurements so we can see the difference of how our truck is going to perform when it's loaded, without any suspension enhancements and with it loaded with our new Timbren suspension enhancement. So currently, we've got it unloaded so we can get a baseline of what it's completely stock. And we're at about 39 and a half inches right now. And here in the front, we're sitting at right at about 38 and three quarter. We're now going to take about a 1000 pounds of water, and we're going to place it in the back of the truck and recheck our measurements to see what it's like loaded up. more

And you might be wondering, is airbags the best option for me And well, that's really going to depend on what you're looking for. If you're wanting something that's completely maintenance-free, then I would recommend Timbrens, which are a jounce bumper replacement. The larger Timbren jounce bumper is going to be larger so it'll make contact sooner with your axle and it's going to provide more cushion and support than what your factory jounce bumper will. The thing is with the Timbrens is that they don't really offer a lot of cushion, they do make your ride a bit stiffer, but they offer that support that you need. more

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Timbren rear suspension enhancement system on our 2019 Ram 2500. Now, the reason why you might want a suspension upgrade on your Ram is because whenever we're towing a heavy trailer or we have a heavy load in the back of the truck, we'll notice that the back end is going to want to sag down. Well, not only are we putting a lot of strain and stress on our suspension, but we're actually doing a little bit of harm to the front of our truck as well. The back end is going to get pushed down, the front end's going to get raised up, which means our tires aren't going to be in contact as well. Not to mention our headlights are going to be pointing up rather than down at the road, so we're going to be blinding people as we drive.So we're going to go ahead and measure our truck the way it sits now that we can get a baseline, we'll add some weight, and remeasure it. So if I measure it from the center line of the wheel to the arch of the wheel well, I'm getting about 43 and 3/4 inches here at the back. more

Air Lift Air Helper Springs Installation - 2016 Ram 1500- Video
Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Air Lift 1000 air helper springs for our rear coil springs. Now, before we install our air bags, what we're going to do is take a few measurements with the truck unloaded. That way, we know how high it's sitting. And after we put some weight in the bed of our truck with our air bags installed, we're going to know how much to inflate them to achieve that same factory ride height. From the ground to the edge of our wheel well, that's right at 36 inches. And here at the rear from the ground to the edge of the wheel well, it's about 38 and a half inches.Now, we went ahead and put a considerable amount of weight in the bed of our truck. more

The need for airbags comes in whenever you have a heavy load in the back of your truck, or if you're towing a heavy trailer. Now, our Ram specifically has coil springs in the back which, when we're unloaded, gives us a really comfortable ride. But as soon as we start putting a lot of gear, a trailer back here, anything we start weighing it down, the back end is really going to start squatting. Today on our 2017 Ram 2500 you're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to show you how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs. Here on our test course you will notice on our left side of our screen as we go over the speed bumps with the factory suspension setup on our weight, we get a lot of up and down movement, which in turn puts a significant amount of strain on the suspension. On the right side of the screen you will see the new air bags installed. You will notice as we go over bumps the air bags will greatly reduce the strain on the factory suspension while providing a much safer ride, while leveling out your vehicle when loaded and prolonging the life of your factory suspension.Here on our slalom course with our factory setup, we'll see a lot of body roll when loaded. Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Ram 2500, you're going to be taking a look at, I'm gonna show you how to install the Airlift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with internal jounce bumpers for the rear axle, part number AL88289. This is what our air bags look like when they're installed. It's gonna be a hybrid spring style system, which means that it's gonna provide you with not only an adjustable air bag, but it's gonna have a built-in internal jounce stopper. The internal jounce stop is gonna prevent the vehicle from bottoming out when the bags are at a lower air level.What's nice about these bags is they can be inflated and deflated independently, to adjust for any off center loads you may have in the back of the vehicle. Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Ram 1500, we're going to review and install the Timbren rear suspension enhancement system, part number TDRTT1500.This is what the Aeon Timbren spring looks like when it's installed in our truck. Now you can see it fits into a factory fitting right here, and it's almost an instant upgrade to your truck.Now sitting on here you'll notice that it has a gap right here. The idea here is that when you're driving down a road with an unloaded truck, you can travel freely before it hits the spring here. Then when you do load your truck up, then the spring starts to work as needed.Now everybody knows that 1500-series trucks ride great going down the road; however, everybody else knows is that when you're loading your truck and you want to use your truck like a truck, a lot of time the truck is going to sag down the back and it's going to affect performance and handling. So this way it's a good easy way to improve that.So when you use your truck like a truck, what's going to happen is this is going to make contact here.
